Where in AZ or in the whole United States, is Section 8 open to applications?

For a whole year I thought I was on a list for Section 8 housing assistance, today I find I am not on any list and that the application process for Section 8 has been closed since 2003.

I don't understand. Is there, or is there not, such a thing as Section 8 assistance and if so, where and how do I apply? I am disabled and my only income is SSDI. I have cognitive problems and difficulty with this process, apparently, even more so than I previously thought considering i have waited a year for nothing.

I am currently in Tucson but i am willing to go to Flagstaff, Prescott or Cottonwood where I hear there may be services available, but I have no clue how to even apply or where.

Thanks for any help understanding phantom goverment services.

they are opening the section 8 waiting list in december of 2011 not sure of the date they will being taking apps at the section 8 office here in tucson az

 in response to T time...   Helly T time. I am looking for the same thing for my son and I. So far, I've come across sites that lead me into bogus online survey jobs and crap I don't need. I've got my feelers out as far as Sedona, so if I find out anything helpful, I will post it here.

 in response to weareallone...   I am so sorry to hear that. Family members are the most cruelist ppl that you could ever imagine. I am not financially stable and live with my so-called boyfriend but want to be on my on and I too am on disability but seeking employment. Because there is nobody out there that will help us ppl on disability survive. Keep your head up and I am sorry for what you are going through.

Trust me, you aren't the only one! I read about all the trillions of dollars in grants given to non-profits and state agencies and I wonder who they are helping when you follow every word in their application ..only to find out a year later they have no such application. Even when I have followed up to MAKE SURE they received it. Most non-profits are just as corrupt as our government. I know, one example is my mother is a non-profit, for animals and she spends spends spends on herself and the family she loves. It makes me sick because I have been homeless for our years and lost all of my animals been robbed, raped, and it just goes on and on. I have more examples but that one hurts the most because I am disabled and she knows and doesn't care. My entire family of origin knows but now that I am unable to give give give to them I seem to have vanished!

I have just recieved my voucher but am having trouble getting an apartement due to my past cuz i was young and stupid and got a misdemener it has been 3 years and i am currently with save the family. i need a two bedroom 2 bath for me and my 2 kids

I'm interested in applying for section 8 due to me relocating from St. Louis, MO to Arizona. My son has chronic asthma and St. Louis is not the best place for him.Can someone pls offer me some contact info or resources that will help me further accomplish me relocating? From what I see you have to contact each county individually for a listing. Call 211 and maybe they can tell you if something opened up as well.

I know her in NY is locked down and only available to emergency cases such as Domestic Violence.

I know currently flagstaff is closed as of august 2008..anywhere else in arizona (except where it is really hot like phoenix?)

MM & Bb BW... There are only a FEW MONTHS out of the Selected year, that the open enrollment for sec-8 accepts applications. I have been on the list since 2005' which is the latest and the most recent application session. I have phoned them and found that from the beginning I was number 2869 on the waiting list. And now, almost 3 years later, I am number 1968.... You can see from the SLOWNESS of the number system on this waiting list that it does NOT move very quickly. I Also know of Two others who are also disabled as well as elderly who were not aware of the special programs for the Disabled, and or elderly!
